Since 1998, I have been focusing full-time on all kinds of tax issues for the tourism trade and on the particular country features of the international travel business. As we all know, travel agencies, tour operators, consolidators, incentive and event agencies as well as tourist service providers move within a complex environment of national and international (tax) regulations. VAT in the EU is the case in point, with its imperfectly harmonised distinction between the normal VAT rules for business customers and the special tour operator margin for travel services supplied to private travellers. If things get tricky, knowledge and experience can help. My clients are tourism businesses of all shapes and sizes from Germany and around the world.
